Ford C.V.H Hydraulic Lifter Fitting Information

Ford CVH Hydraulic Lifters

Hydraulic Lifters are pre-soaked in oil for protection during storage, this oil needs to be removed before installation, if this oil is not removed and the lifters are fitted then they can jack open or knock during initial start up and running.

Flush the old engine oil out and change the oil filter, replace with quality oil and filter.

To remove the oil place the lifter in a vice, opening and closing to squeeze the storage oil out of the body of the lifter, repeat on the other lifters making sure the majority of this oil is removed.

After fitting start the engine, the lifters will fill after a short time, if they sound tappety increase the revs and modulate between 2-3k RPM, after around 4 minutes let the engine idle for 30 seconds, the lifters should now sound normal and quiet.

If the lifters still sound tappety repeat the above process, depending on oil used and the condition of the engine this can be repeated up to 5 times.
